Rory's Miles2Mayo - One week to go until the epic journey begins

In a week’s time, Business Development Director, ACT Trustee and rugby legend Rory Best will be setting off from Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on a 300km trek across Ireland raising funds for Cancer Fund for Children.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life changes for the whole family. Cancer Fund for Children are there to provides support to everyone, with the aim that that no child has to face cancer alone.

For over eight years, the charity has provided short breaks to families from across the island of Ireland at Daisy Lodge in County Down – a world class therapeutics centre, where each family member is helped to cope with the emotional impact of cancer and together given the space that allows them to simply be a family again.

Following on from his first challenge for the charity in 2021 where he raised €1million, this year Rory is aiming to hit his target of €2million to help the charity continue to expand their services and progress with the building of another Daisy Lodge site in Cong, County Mayo.

Starting on Tuesday 16 May at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Rory’s epic challenge will pass through counties Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Tipperary, Limerick, Clare and Galway culminating on Thursday 25 May in Cong, County Mayo.

Along the way he’ll be joined by friends, family, some famous faces and our own Ardonagh and Arachas colleagues too.

Speaking about the challenge Rory said,

“It’s hard to believe that in just one week, I will take off from the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and start my 10-day journey to Cong, Co. Mayo. Along the way, I’m going to be joined by my former teammates as well as some of the families that Cancer Fund for Children currently support, and I can’t wait to hear their stories and learn more about how this centre will benefit them. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has got behind my challenge so far. Every euro donated, every fundraising event and every share on social media brings us one step closer to our fundraising target and our overall goal of helping to ensure no child has to face cancer alone.”

As official sponsors The Ardonagh Group and Arachas are delighted to be getting behind Rory and this amazing cause once again.
